HHSAA Wrestling updated NBC EAP

Posted February 22, 2010

 Aloha HATA members,

I apologize in advance if this email doesn't pertain to you.

Here's an update from Charley Gima regarding the HHSAA wrestling tournament this weekend.  We will also have the updated NBC EAP on the HATA website.

Hey all,

Attached is the NBC EAP for your review. There are a few items to let you know about for this weekend.

Ross, Keith Matsumoto (wrestling coordinator) and myself met with NBC personnel to address some concerns arising from last years' state wrestling tournament and this is what was agreed on:

Arena level ushers have no role in what goes on during the meet, they are there strictly for crowd control. They will not come onto the mat if there is an injury to ask if assistance is needed or if an ambulance is called.

If an ambulance is required the first responder(s) are responsible for calling 911, they should also alert tournament coordinators Carl Schroers or Keith Matsumoto that an ambulance was called, if they can't be located then alert the head table. Direct the ambulance to use the chained gate area on Kapiolani Boulevard and park in that bay area between the lockers. The lock to the chain will be unlocked or the key will be given to Carl or Keith, thus the importance of letting them know. They will alert NBC supervisors who will let the parking attendants know just in case EMS goes to another entry. The roll up gate will be open at the start each day and then closed but will be left unlocked for EMS accessibility. Please make sure it is closed after EMS leaves the arena.

Per Keith Matsumoto, please do not move the chairs on the arena designated for athletic trainers. He will have them situated so we don't block the view of the spectators. He also doesn't want a bunch of 4-5 situated in one area, just seated in the designated chairs.

Weigh ins will take place in the locker rooms so the training room will be set up on Thursday. This allows the wrestlers to get prepped as they finish weighing in, hopefully alleviating any mad rush to get ready.

Sorry about all of the info but hopefully all of this will allow us to run a more functional and efficient tournament. Please email or call me if you have any questions or concerns.

Charley
