NATA Public Relations Memo
Posted February 16, 2010
Aloha HATA members,
Ellen Satlof, NATA’s Public Relations Manager, has asked that I forward the message below to you. It is TIME SENSITIVE, so please read at your earliest convenience. Please respond to Ellen at ellen@nata.org
NATA has the opportunity to work with a national evening news program and we need your help and insight.
The topic is youth sport safety and our goal is to provide a very visual and compelling storyline that shows how a high school has been faced with challenges of injuries or poor sports safety programming and made some significant changes that have resulted in improved care and reduced injuries. As a result, the school would be able to demonstrate that it is “truly taking care of our kids.”
We certainly want an athletic trainer to be central to this story and in spearheading any of these efforts. It can be general youth sport injury program efforts or specific to conditions such as concussion, sudden cardiac arrest or heat illness. This is very much on the heels of NATA’s summit and call to action last month on the Youth Sport Safety Crisis in America, and we are delighted to have garnered attention on this critical health care front. Of particular interest would be a rural or inner city school but we are not limited to that.
If you have a recommendation for our review and follow up, please send me an email with a brief description of the program and who we are best to contact.
This is a time sensitive effort and we appreciate your immediate attention and creative thought.
